DEPENDENCE BETWEEN THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF PATIENTS WITH TYPE-2 DIABETES AND THE OCCURRING COMPLICATIONS, Nikolay Kostadinov, Tcvetelina Totomirova

Abstract: Diabetes mellitus is one of the most progressive chronic diseases of the 21st century
and has a great effect on the quality of life of patients. Uncontrolled diabetes is associated
with the development of complications that can compromise health-related quality of life and
increase the risk of mortality. The aim of the present study was to assess satisfaction and
health-related quality of life in individuals suffering from type-2 diabetes, with or without
realized chronic microvascular complications of the disease. Material and methods -
researched and surveyed during the period November 2022. – April 2023, there are 40
patients, respectively 20 men and 20 women with type 2 diabetes, with or without diagnosed
chronic complications of the disease. Results: Patients with DM and realized complications
are not only physically sick, but also have a lower self-assessment of quality of life, compared

to those without shelters. Diabetes affects the quality of life of patients at different levels -
pain, discomfort, mobility are the main problems that affect the quality of life of patients with
diabetes. Conclusions: The quality of life of diabetics deteriorates when complications begin
to develop or comorbidities exist.
