STUDY OF BODY COMPOSITION OF CADETS FROM 1ST AND 3RD COURSE FROM NAVAL ACADAMY “N. Y. VAPTSAROV”. COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS. , Martina Moskova, Yordan Kolev
Abstract: Marine professionals in their professional realization and long-term residence at
sea are at increased risk of getting into the water and contact it critical situations threatening
life and health. This increases the risk of conditioning and increased training requirements
for marine professionals regarding physical condition and functional reactivity.
The purpose of the present study is to measure the percentage of body fat and body mass
index of servicemen who will work in the marine environment. These are some of the
parameters that are studied and serve as indicators of resistance to physical stress of the
study group. The results obtained can be compared and tracked over the years of study. One
of the tasks of the study is to establish the relationship between these indicators between the
two courses of trainee cadets, given that the level of physical training is different in the two
courses of study. A total of 47 cadets studying at Naval Acadamy “N.Y.Vaptsarov”from the
1st and 3rd year aged between 19 and 23 took part in the study. The analyzed results show
elevated values in the group of the third year, both in the body mass index and in the
percentage of fat in comparison with the results of the freshmen.
